REPORT: Trouble Looms as Northern youths attack, injure Enyimba players in Jos

  Irate fans attacked players of Nigeria Professional Football League side, Enyimba, and injured some of them after the visitors held home side Plateau United to a goalless draw in Jos, in a match-day 29 fixture on Sunday. It’s not clear, as at the time of filing this report, how many Enyimba players were injured, pictures showed that defender Danladi Timothy and goalkeeper Sabirou Bassa-Djeri sustained wounds following the attack. According to an eyewitness account, the fans invaded the pitch, attacked players and officials of the visiting team, as well as journalists, who tried to record the scene with their mobile devices. A player with Crown Football Club of Oyo State, Usman Yusuf, has slumped and died during a friendly match in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Yusuf featured in the first half in a friendly for Gateway United FC against Sliema Wanderers on Sunday afternoon. He was resuscitated by medics after he slumped and later taken to the State Hospital, Ijaye where he passed on. The Media officer of the Gateway FC, Moses Ojewumi, confirmed the incident on Monday in Abeokuta. Ojewumi quoted Gateway United coach, Akeem Busari, as saying the late player “didn’t show any signs of illness when he came for trials and didn’t die at the camp as it was erroneously reported in some quarters.” ©Dailypost

FC Barcelona are continuing to prepare for this Saturday's match against Valencia at the Camp Nou. With the news this morning, as revealed by SPORT, Lionel Messi won't be involved but one man who might is Luis Suarez. Madagascar has joined Zambia in calling off a football match against South Africa in the wake of xenophobic attacks in Johannesburg and Pretoria.   On wednesday, the  Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) pulled out of hosting South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in Lusaka  Saturday, citing “prevailing security concerns.” However, South African Football Association (SAFA)  turned to Madagascar for a hastily arranged friendly in Orlando on the eastern edge of Johannesburg.  But the Bafana Bafana Twitter page said on Thursday the game would no longer take place. “SAFA regrets to inform the public that the match between Bafana Bafana and Madagascar scheduled for this coming Saturday (7 September) has been called off after the visitors (Madagascar) decided to withdraw from the encounter,” the statement read Similarly, the Malagasy Federation of Football, in a statement, said it was honored to be considered to play South Africa but after consultation with various agencies i
