Nnamdi Kanu: Igbo leaders afraid to speak for IPOB leader – Adeyanju

Image
A famous human rights activist,  Deji Adeyanju,  has accused Southeast leaders of not standing for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. Adeyanju claimed that Southeast leaders are afraid to speak up against the ‘illegal’ arrest of the IPOB leader. He noted that the Senate Minority Leader, Eyinnaya Abaribe; Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom have spoken up for Kanu, wondering why other stakeholders including governors from the region have decided to keep quiet. In a tweet, the convener of Concerned Nigerians insisted that the North was standing behind killer herdsmen. He wrote: “Igbo leaders so afraid to speak up on the Nnamdi Kanu issue. Almost the entire North still standing with killer herdsmen. Only Abaribe, Ortom and Wike have spoken up.” The Nigerian government in alliance with foreign security had apprehended Kanu last week Sunday and repatriated him to the country. He was repatriated back to Nigeria to con

In Responds to the disclaimer by the Igbo leaders, IPOB said they were unperturbed. He said: “We were not looking for them before. We are not bothered about their statement or action towards the restoration of Biafra. “It’s unfortunate that the public never understood the position of the South East governors. “The governors cannot talk and tell their master the position of their subjects because they know that their master would tell them to relinquish their political positions. “They can say whatever they like, but we want to assure them that Biafra must come. “We have the support and mandate of Biafrans both at home and abroad for t…

Image

BREAKING!!! Ohanaeze rejects Terrorist tag on Igbo Nation as IPOB draws more Attention to Biafra

Image
The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, OYC, has told President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw his offensive statements against the Igbo nation. The OYC spoke in reply to Buhari’s interview with Arise Television wherein he described the Igbo nation as a dot in a circle. Buhari had said, “IPOB is just like a dot in a circle. Even if they want to exit, they will have no access to anywhere. “And the way they are spread all over the country, having businesses and property, I don’t think IPOB knows what they are talking about. “In any case, we say we’ll talk to them in the language that they understand. We’ll organise the police and the military to pursue them.” His statement has since been interpreted to mean that all Igbos in Nigeria are like “dot in a circle.” In a communique issued after their meeting in Enugu, the OYC said it was unacceptable for a sitting President to denigrate the entire Igbo race and thereby prepare the ground for further onslaught against them. The communique signed by OY

I don't want Biafra to go into another War, Anyone that has lost a close relative knows what it means to lose parents or children - Orji Uzor Kalu begs Igbos

Image
The Senate Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has cautioned people of the Southeast to be wary of situations that can lead to another Biafra civil war. Kalu appealed to the Southeast to consider dialogue and desist from violence in their agitations. The former Abia State governor made the call while condemning the burning of Police stations and government facilities in the Southeast. In a statement he issued yesterday, the All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain said violence was not the solution. He said: “We should not either by words or actions pursue a repetition of the 1967 horrible genocide. ”We should come to understand that every war ends on a table, instead of destructions before coming to the table. “Is it not wiser to come to the table and avoid destruction? We need infrastructure. We need investments. We don’t need hostilities.” The former governor noted that people of the Southeast were not known for burning property to punish enemies. He urged people of the region to em

Leave ESN alone, go to the North and stop Bandits from sacking Communities - Former ECOWAS Speaker tells S'East Govs, Army, Police

Image
Former Speaker, ECOWAS Parliament, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa has queried the reasonability of the security agencies hunting for suspected members of the Eastern Security Network, ESN in South East while bandits and terrorists are sacking communities in the North and taking over their ancestral land almost unchallenged. Senator Ohuabunwa who spoke on the heels of media reports and confirmations by some Northern governors that terrorists have now taken over many communities in the region seizing people’s wives, said “Nigeria is cruising on a highway to abbys.” He said that hunting for suspected personnel of ESN who are resisting the invasion of Eastern communities by bandits and Killer herdsmen while bandits on killing spree occupy territories raises some curious questions. The former Leader of the House of Representatives warned that the current security situation in the country if not properly handled could plunge Nigeria into civil unrest. Umahi who stated this while briefing journalists in his office in Abakaliki on Friday, urged the people to disregard the purported security outfit, noting that the governors and leaders of the region were doing everything within their powers to protect the lives and property of the citizens and that of those from other regions living in the area.  He expressed worry that some youths from the region allowed themselves to be engaged for the destruction of lives and property, vowing that leaders of the zone will resist the outfit. “Our region remains the safest and nobody can controvert this. And so, our brother said he has formed security o

IPOB not illegal group, remove terrorist tag on them now - Ohanaeze tells Buhari

Image
Anambra State President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene has called on the Federal Government to remove the terrorist label on the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB because, he argued, the organization does not threaten lives and property. Addressing reporters in Awka, Okeke-Ogene urged security operatives to concentrate more in the Northeast to end the unwanted killings by those who, he said, hate the unity of Nigeria. He described as unfortunate and unacceptable the declaration of IPOB as a terrorist organization, while other agitating groups, especially in the northern part of Nigeria that specialize in kidnapping and killing of innocent Nigerians on daily basis were moving freely without trial and prosecution. Okeke-Ogene, who is aspiring for the position of national vice president of Ohanneze in the election slated for January, 2021, said it was unfortunate that a group that does not carry arms could be labeled terrorist. He wondered why the federal governm

[email protected]: We'll hold Wike responsible - Ohanaeze Youth Says

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has condemned the imposition of a 24-hour curfew on Obigbo area of Rivers State where the military reportedly killed civilians. President of the group, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and Secretary-General, Okwu Nnabuike, said people in the state have been denied access to water, food, healthcare and other necessities because of a suspected duel between Governor Nyesom Wike and Nnamdi Kanu. The group called on both parties to take responsibility for the loss of lives or face international criminal proceedings. It reads in part, “Wike as Chief Security officer of Rivers State will surely account for the loss of lives and brutalities in Obigbo in the near future as international human rights groups and activists are gathering information and evidence of genocidal violence escalating in Obigbo Rivers State. “OYC vehemently oppose the 24hrs curfew placed on Obigbo with heavy military actions and onslaughts against the people which have continuously abused t

Group calls on UN to compel Buhari to remove terrorist tag on IPOB

Image
An Igbo group, Voice from the East (VEAST), yesterday in Enugu pleaded with the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to use the opportunity of its ongoing meeting in the United States of America (USA) to mount pressure of President Muhammadu Buhari to remove the terrorist tag on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).   The group, in a statement signed by its convener, Comrade Kindness Jonah, stated that the invitation extended to the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, by the European Parliament, is evident that the group is championing self-determination.   “We have been inundated with the outcome of the invitation of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to address European Parliament on the issue of Biafra. Many have expressed reservations on the invitation by the body on somebody that the Nigerian Government tagged ‘a terrorist’. VEAST pointed out that the terrorist tag on IPOB by Buhari–led government when juxtaposed with the invitation and Nkanu’s landmark address had been “rubbished”.

North’ll never allow any southerner become president in next 20 years —Fani-Kayode

Image
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has asked the southerners to jettison any hope of producing the next president of Nigeria in 2023. The former minister said that only a “fool” would believe that the North would allow power to return to the South in 2023. He claimed that the North had concluded plans not to allow the southerners mount the office of the president of Nigeria until after 20 years. According to Fani-Kayode, after President Muhammadu Buhari’s remaining four-year term, the North-East would produce the next president, who would reign for eight years. He said after that, the North Central will take over and rule for another eight years before the North would allow power to get to the South again. He stated this in a post on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday. He wrote, “Hear this and hear it well. Anyone that believes that a southerner will be President in 2023 is a fool. The north has already decided to keep power for the next 20 years and

High Tension Erupts South East As Ebonyi indigenes reject proposed airport project

Image
Indigenes of Ebonyi State in the Diaspora, on the platform of Organisation of Ebonyi State Indigenes in the Diaspora (OESID) have rejected plans by their state governor to embark on construction of an international airport in the state, describing it as “a white elephant project difficult to achieve at the moment.” The group, however, called on Governor Dave Umahi, to prioritise projects that would have direct impacts on the people “not the one with ulterior motive. In a statement signed by the spokesman, Ambassador Paschal Olochukwu Ogbonna, in Abuja, the group argued that although the estimated value of the project had not been made public, “it is trite knowledge that building an international airport usually involves colossal amounts of money which may not be available to the state government at the moment. “Chances are, the resources would invariably be borrowed either locally or most likely from Chinese and other international financers. But even if these funds we

In a statement released, Chief Fani Kayode said Igbos should never be subjected to what he described as "usual nonsensical radical-stetreopying." His statement reads: "Next time you complain about Igbos or subject them to the usual nonsensical racial-stereotyping kindly remember that when our compatriots were being slaughtered in South Africa it was an Igbo man called Allen Onyema, the owner of Air Peace, that sent his planes to bring them home. "If You Want Dialogue, Establish IPOB Family Units In Your various Offices" - Biafrans Urges S'East Govs

Image
CALL FOR DIALOGUE: South-East Governors Should Establish IPOB Family Units in Their Offices Just few days ago, news were rife even on social media platforms, exposing the desperation of the South-East governors, seeking for dialogue with the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which was however totally rejected. What exactly will be your reaction as an individual, if confronted with such in the light of all that has been playing out? It is quite useless and unacceptable for me at such a time as we presently are, to begin to think of having a dialogue with this brand of persons. Time when such a privilege was given has far gone. These politicians fully ridiculed themselves by conniving with Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership to proscribe IPOB, tagging it a terrorist organization even in their homeland just because of their crass egocentric interests and that of their Fulani slavemasters.  Every passing day, heartwarming news come the way of the Indigenous People of Biaf
