Military aircraft have returned to Orsu, Ihiteukwa communities in Imo State in a fresh search for members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members and its militant arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), causing fresh tensions in the areas. SaharaReporters learnt that the military aircraft frequented the communities on Sunday with residents and church members returning from services early and scampering to safety as the jets hovered above. SaharaReporters obtained a video showing how one of the military aircraft flew past a village in Orsu believably on a search for suspected IPOB, ESN members.   “This is happening for the third time within the past one week. Yesterday, our area was bombarded by military helicopters almost immediately after the people of the community ended their church services. The Action Alliance (AA) says the party and its governorship candidate in Imo State, Mr Uche Nwosu, will go to the Court of Appeal to reject the judgment delivered on Saturday by Imo Election Petitions Tribunal. The party in a statement signed by its Acting National Secretary, Mr Eli Moses in Abuja on Tuesday, said that the tribunal’s verdict was “judgment and not justice.” The tribunal led by Justice Malami Dogondaji had on Sept. 21, dismissed three petitions challenging the election of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Gov. Emeka Ihedioha of Imo at the election held on March 9. Just In: Ihedioha orders arrest of Rochas Okorocha

Imo State Government under the leadership of Emeka Ihedioha on Thursday ordered a citizen’s arrest against Sen. Rochas Okorocha, over alleged assault on a government official, Mr Jasper Ndubuaku. The Secretary to State Government (SSG), Mr Uche Onyeaguocha, gave the order after the Chairman of the Recovery of Government Properties, Mr Jasper Ndubuaku, was allegedly assaulted at Okorocha’s residence. Onyeaguocha said that the state had also placed Okorocha on security watch and urged Imo citizens to arrest him and alert the government whenever they found him in the state. News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a video, trending online on Thursday, captured some thugs beating Ndubuaku at Okorocha’s residence on Spibatt Avenue, Owerri. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Rabiu Ladodo, and SSG confirmed the incident to newsmen at a joint news briefing in Owerri. Breaking: Reps Compels Nig. govt to Obey Court order and release Zakzaky to avoid terrible havoc

  Members of the house of representatives have asked the federal government to obey the court orders directing the release of Ibrahim el-Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN). At plenary on Wednesday, the lawmakers said IMN members who have been protesting their leader’s continued detention could wreak more havoc. El-Zakzaky was arrested after the group better known as Shi’ites clashed with a convoy of the chief of army staff in Kaduna state in 2015. Different courts have granted him bail but the government has insisted on detaining him thereby agitating his followers who invaded the National Assembly Complex on Tuesday.  Imo State Task Force on the recovery of government properties under the care of officials of immediate past administration has alleged that between ex-governor Rocha’s Okorocha and his wife, Nneoma, over 67 vehicles are yet to be returned. The Task Force threatened that its team would no longer adopt a soft approach to recovering of government properties in the hands of the past government officials. Chairman of the task force, Jasper Ndubuaku, while briefing newsmen in Owerri, noted that the forceful approach had become necessary following the refusal of most of the culprits to willingly submit the properties. Okorocha: Ihedioha reverses Imo University status to Polytechnic, appoints new rector

The current Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha has reportedly reversed the status of the newly converted Imo State University of Agriculture and Technology, Umuagwo, to its earlier polytechnic status. According to report by Daily Post, the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, at the end of his administration transformed the polytechnic to a university status and appointed a Vice Chancellor to oversee the affairs of the University. Investigating further, Okorocha moved the polytechnic to Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state. However, in a statement made available by the Secretary to the state government, Uche Onyeagucha on Monday, the governor returned the institution to its original status and ordered for the reopening at its initial location. Immediate past governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has advised his successor, Emeka Ihedioha, to begin the process of ruling the state rather than behaving like a lawmaker. The Appeal Court sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has struck out a suit challenging the emergence of the son-in-law to former Governor, Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu as the authentic Imo State governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the 2019 general elections. In his ruling, the Presiding Judge, Justice R.C Agbo, said that the appeal was statute barred in line with the virtue of the 4th Alteration of the 1999 Constitution section 285(12). Leonard Okolienta, the plaintiff had appealed the judgment of the lower Court, which earlier ruled that Nwosu was the authentic governorship candidate.

Breaking: Bomb explosion rocks Imo, 3 feared dead

Owerri – A bomb explosion, Thursday, killed three persons in Eziorsu community in Oguta local government area of Imo State. Barely 24 hours after assumption of office, Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha has commenced the demolition of monuments built by the immediate past governor, Rochas Okorocha as his first action as governor. Ihedioha was sworn-in as the sixth Executive governor of the state on Wednesday. The Akachi tower, one of the many tourist attractions built by the former governor is being demolished as at the time of filing this report. It was built on a reclaimed dumpsite that was abandoned by previous administrations. The demolition exercise was supervised by soldiers who barred journalists from covering the exercise. The Akachi monument was one of the structures commissioned by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo barely one week ago. The monument, a massive tower with the symbol of a hand on the Zenith, representing the hand of God, sits on an expansive plot of land, reserved for religious purposes . The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Thursday, stormed Ogboko in Imo state and arrested the immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha. According to a report by Daily Trust, the commission also arrested his wife Nkechi Okorocha. The Outgoing Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, once sent his DSS detail to insult him. Okorocha said he had gone to interact with his party Chairman about issues relating to happenings in the party when he (Oshiomhole) sent his DSS personnel to push him out of his office. Speaking in an interview with Vanguard, Okorocha said the incident happened in the presence of the APC governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Ekere Nsima. The Governor, however, said he was not considering leaving the ruling party, at least for now. Asked if he still feel comfortable in the APC, Okorocha, whose son-in-law, Uche Nwosu joined the Action Alliance, AA, prior to the general elections, said: “I am APC. I have never thought of leaving the party for now and I have no reason because I won under the platform of APC. “Where will I go to? I have to be in the APC, I formed the APC.”

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, has mocked Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State. Okorocha, in an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, stated that the evil he feared in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has befallen him 10 times over in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
