Breaking News: Bandits Kill Army General, Abduct wife

        The Nigerian Army has announced the death of Major General Hassan Ahmed, a former Provost Marshal. This was announced in a statement sent by the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, on Friday. According to the statement, Ahmed was killed by gunmen while along Lokoja – Abuja road on Thursday, 15 July 2021. Gunmen believed to be bandits have released from their captivity, the Emir of Kajuru, Alhassan Adamu. According to Daily Trust, a source that spoke with the news platform disclosed that other 13 people abducted from the monarch’s private residence are still in captivity. “The Sarkin Kajuru was released around the forest areas leading to Kajuru castle,” the, source said.

Gunmen suspected to be notorious bandits have killed 42 villagers in five communities of Faru district of Maradun Local Government Area in Zamfara State on Thursday. According to eyewitnesses, the bandits stormed the communities and started shooting sporadically. When contacted, the state police Public Relations Office (PPRO), SP Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the incident. Zamfara Police kill 30 bandits after slaughter of 10 villagers The police spokesman explained that the police could not reach the affected communities on time when they were informed of the bandits’ attack due to inaccessible road. “The police operatives managed to get to the affected communities on receiving the information that the bandits were there but unfortunately they could not reach the places because of the bad roads.’’ He noted said the bandits killed 39 villagers and not 42 as being speculated by the villagers, pointing out that their corpses were evacuated to Dari town where they were buried.

News reaching our desk  now has it that some suspected bandits have attacked Tsauwa village, Batsari Local Government Area, Katsina State, killing 19 residents, while many houses were set ablaze.  The bandits also carted away valuable items from the community during the attack. It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday. When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Gambo Isah, confirmed the attack. The PPRO was, however, unable to give details of the incident saying he was in contact with the Duty Police Officer, DPO in charge of the area for more details.

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, a Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, has denied allegations that he was questioned or invited for examination by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) for his anti-military sentiments. Sheikh Gumi told Channels Television after presiding over a Jummat ceremony at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna State on Friday that all of his interventions with bandits inside the forest were done with the help of the government and security services, and that he had committed no crimes. “Nobody Invited me for questioning or any arrest, I can say that categorically,” the Sheik said, adding, “since I ventured into the forest, I went there with full security, the police, with the knowledge of the DSS, traditional rulers and the Fulani leaders, I never went alone”. BREAKING: Police Arrest Teenager Who Killed Two Suspected Bandits in Katsina

The police in Katsina have arrested a 13-year-old boy, Abdulkarim Mati, for killing two men suspected to be bandits.   The police said the suspect, Mati was once an errand boy to a bandit leader, Ardo Nashaware, who resides in Birnin Magaji forest, Zamfara State, Punch reports. He was said to have fled the forest where he allegedly committed the act.
