Don't Worry Very Soon, We Will All Live In Peace And Prosperity In Nigeria— Osinbajo Give Reasons

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has told Nigerians that the country's security problems will be forgotten soon.

He stated that the Nigerian government has boosted efforts to appropriately tackle insecurity, and that the Supplementary Budget provided to the National Assembly for approval will include military weapons acquisition for all security agencies in the country.

Professor Osinbajo made the announcement while receiving the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, in audience at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

According to Vanguard, he stated that it is the responsibility of every Nigerian citizen to help the country's security agencies in order to keep Nigeria safe.

“I can assure you that soon, the issue of insecurity will be a thing of the past and that we will all live in peace and prosperity in this country,” Osinbajo said.

President Muhammadu Buhari has established a committee to study the nitty-gritty of the country's security failings and address them from the foundation, according to Osinbajo, which prompted him to send the additional budget.

He said, “The President has recently constituted a committee that will look at the whole security infrastructure with a view to looking at the needs of the military, as well as the police and security agencies.

“The result of that is a bill before the National Assembly, a supplementary bill.

“The purpose of that bill is to present some of the needs of the military, as well as of security agencies in order to be able to beef up our response to the security challenges.”

In order to combat insecurity, he stressed the importance of paramount monarchs, local and state governments collaborating with the Nigerian government.

He said, “Any country with this number of security challenges must respond as robustly as possible.

“But it is also important to bear in mind that it takes a combined effort of all of us, at the local government level, state and federal levels; all of the levels; we need to come together to tackle this issue of insecurity.”

He stated that while the Nigerian government is deeply concerned and would continue to increase efforts to improve security across the country, community initiatives are equally critical in addressing the problem at its source.

He emphasized that taking significant action at the community level is an unavoidable conclusion, as the majority of security challenges arise at the community level.

The Vice President expressed his delight that the traditional ruler has set up a committee in his domain to deal with insecurity, and that the traditional ruler has been able to "contain the threat that we perceive in many parts of the country in your community."

He also stated that the President Buhari-led administration will assist the community in overcoming its challenges, and that the government is collaborating with the Ekiti State government to address insecurity and other issues.

Oba Adeola Adeniyi Ajakaiye, the Oluyin of Iyin Ekiti, praised the Vice President for giving them an audience and listening to their demands, which included backing for the development of a Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences in the community.
