JUST IN: Tears as Bandits kill 51 in Zamfara fresh attacks

Armed men suspected to be bandits have killed no fewer than 51 persons in six different communities of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

DAILY POST gathered that the communities attacked include Kadawa, Kwata, Maduba, Ganda Samu, Saulawa and Askawa.

A resident of the community, who spoke to reporters, said the armed men invaded the areas riding on motorbikes shooting at anyone they see.

When contacted by DAILY POST, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Muhammad Shehu, said he was on his way to Mosque for prayers.

He, however, promised to get back to our correspondent.

However, a resident told Daily Trust that “Several other bodies are yet to be recovered from the surrounding bushes although efforts are being made to recover them so that they can be properly buried.”

“There was fear that the armed men might return and kill those performing the funeral rites. That is why we decided to ferry the bodies to Dauran community.

“So far, we have buried 28 victims in the community. As I’m talking to you, we have just finished the funeral rites. Mass burials were conducted on the victims.”
