The British high commission has said it'll engage the Nigerian government over the rearrest of Nnamdi Kanu, chief of the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB. Dean Hurlock, a spokesperson of the British high commission, disclosed that the commission is “within the process of looking for clarification” from the federal government over Kanu’s rearrest. in the message, Hurlock stated the United Kingdom foreign, Commonwealth and development office “stands equipped to provide consular help”, TheCable reports. The IPOB chief, who has a British passport was arrested with the aid of Nigerian security operatives and extradited to Nigeria on Sunday. Counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, on Tuesday, flayed the manner of extradition, summary trial and detention in the custody of the Department of the State Security, DSS, of the leader of Indeginous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.   Many members and supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Wednesday, have trooped out en masse at Igweoacha, Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, to protest against the arrest and detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The crowd is seen in a viral video marching, chanting, and waving Biafra flags on the road while some are on motorcycles and buses. The British High Commission has cleared air on the insinuations that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu was arrested in the United Kingdom. Dean Hurlock, a spokesperson of the British High Commission, on Tuesday said the Kanu was neither arrested nor extradited from the UK. “We can confirm that Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes,” TheCable quoted him. Recall that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami had disclosed on Tuesday that Kanu was arrested on Sunday. According to him, Kanu was arrested through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services. Kanu who is a dual citizen of both Nigeria and Britain was rumoured to have been arrested in the UK where he was believed to have been staying since his escape from the country in 2017. The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) expressed mixed feelings of apprehension and gratitude after learning of Nnamdi's arrest and repatriation. The group stated that it is concerned about Nnamdi Kanu's arrest until the whole course of justice has been followed. It argued that Kanu's detention would have little impact on the Biafra agitation because a referendum was required. In a statement, the group's spokesman, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman, praised the federal government's and agencies' efforts and thanked the International Police and UK authorities for upholding their duties to Nigeria. Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has been detained by the Federal Government. Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, confirmed to journalists on Tuesday that Kanu was arrested and returned to Nigeria on Sunday.  According to him, the arrest was made as a result of a joint effort by Nigerian security services and Interpol.  Kanu will be brought before the Federal High Court in Abuja for the continuation of his trial on accusations of terrorism, treasonable crime, unlawful possession of firearms, and management of an unlawful society, according to Malami.

The National Identification Number (NIN) and SIM data verification deadline has been extended to July 26 by the Federal Government. Meanwhile, Nigerians have been congratulated for their patience and compliance with the Federal Government's instruction on the NIN-SIM registration procedure by Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami. This was revealed in a joint statement issued by the National Communications Commission's Public Affairs Director, Ikechukwu Adinde, and the National Identity Management Commission's Head, Corporate Affairs, Kayode Adegoke, on Tuesday. The extension was approved by the federal government as part of its endeavor to make it easier for citizens and residents to receive the NIN, according to the statement. Nnamdi Kanu Reacts To IPOB, ESN Members Beheading Native Doctor

  Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Monday declared that his group and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) does not patronise native doctors. Kanu made the declaration while reacting to a report by the police that IPOB and ESN operatives killed a native doctor preparing charms for them in Awommama, Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State. A statement by the Media Adviser to the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Mike Abattam, had said the native doctor, Pascal Okeke, was beheaded by ESN after charms he prepared for them failed. Reacting, Kanu insisted that IPOB and ESN members do not believe in fetish things and they don’t kill people of the Southeast. Kanu spoke through the Publicity Secretary of IPOB, Emma Powerful.   Irate fans attacked players of Nigeria Professional Football League side, Enyimba, and injured some of them after the visitors held home side Plateau United to a goalless draw in Jos, in a match-day 29 fixture on Sunday. The Eastern Security Network, ESN, a security wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Southeast Nigeria, is accused of assassinating a native doctor, Paschal Okeke, from Umudim-Ukwu Orji, Awomama in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State, over links with the Nigerian Police, Army, and IRT team. A source close to the IPOB claimed that, “The native doctor that was beheaded in Awomanma , Imo state was the native doctor that prepares charm for the Nigeria military and police and he was the person that led the Nigeria military to Njaba River where they did some spiritual work before they went and killed Ikonso in his home town”. “The native doctor was never part of ESN or does any work for ESN , the native doctor was on contract with the Nigerian police and army to help them track , neutralize ESN members whom they think are spiritually fortified to battle the Fulani herdsmen.”

President Muhammadu Buhari responded to the threat by a resurgent Niger Delta Avengers on Sunday, noticeably without a threat to crush them like Indigenous People of Biafra. Instead a presidential statement by Special Adviser Femi Adesina suggested that President Buhari made a subtle appeal to the Avengers to sheath their swords or stop their ‘sabre-rattling’.
