Nig. Senator, Shehu Sani makes shocking statement, Says Insurgency persisted for ten years in Nigeria

Senator Shehu Sani has disclosed why the nation has been unable to get rid of Boko Haram insurgency since its onset in 2009.

Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, made the disclosure in a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Friday.

According to the Council on Foreign Relations’ Nigeria Security Tracker, at least 63,253 persons have been killed by the insurgents as at June 2019.

However, Sani said that the carnage would have been a thing of the past but for some reasons he highlighted.

He identified the continued existence of insurgency in the country on corruption, politics and other reasons.

The vocal senator wrote: “Five reasons why Insurgency persisted for TEN years in Nigeria; Corruption in the prosecution of the war on Terror. Failure of the dialogue option. Politicisation of security matters. Global politics of arms sales to Nigeria. Affiliation of Insurgent groups to external enemy.”
