I will destroy Jihadist Attackers in Mozambique - President vows

Image
Mozambique President Filipe Nyusi vowed Wednesday to hunt down and unmask attackers involved in a string of deadly assaults that have battered the country’s northern region and killed least 250 people. For nearly two years, suspected Islamists have staged raids on remote communities in the gas-rich, Muslim-majority Cabo Delgado province, torching homes and sometimes even beheading civilians. The identity of the militants remains unclear and their motives unknown. “We will fight and hunt them,” Nyusi told lawmakers during an address. “So far they have never showed their faces, but the security forces are hunting and fighting them relentlessly,” Nyusi said. “We hope that the arrests in recent weeks will help us discover who they are,” he said without specifying when the arrests occurred or the numbers of suspects detained. A senior police source in the northern province confirmed there had been recent arrests but refused to give details. The attorney general late last

Breaking: Secret military cemetery concealing over 1,000 dead Nigerian soldiers in Borno – Report

Image
Over 1,000 Nigerian soldiers killed by the Boko Haram insurgents have been buried unceremoniously in a secret graveyard at Maimalari town in Borno State, a report by America’s Wall Street Journal disclosed. “The bodies of these dead soldiers are laid by flashlight into trenches dug by infantrymen or local villagers who are usually paid a few dollars per shift,” the report said. Also, according to some anonymous Nigerian soldiers, diplomats and a senior government official, after dark, the bodies of these soldiers are covertly transported from a mortuary that at times gets so crowded and the corpses are delivered by truck. “Several of my comrades were buried in unmarked graves at night,” said a soldier from the Maimalari barracks, where more than 1,000 soldiers are based. “They are dying and being deleted from history.” The secret graveyard at Maimalari isn’t the only one in Nigeria’s troubled northeast, the senior government official said. “…The sp

The amalgamation of Nigeria was a fraud — Chief Akinjide, SAN

Image
(Being excerpts from the speech of Chief Richard Akinjide (SAN), first and second Republic Minister, at the public presentation of the book “Fellow Country Men- the story of Coup D’etats in Nigeria by Richard Akinnola, June 2000) I was in the first cabinet that was overthrown by the military in this country. I entered parliame…nt in December 12, 1959. And I remained in parliament until January 15, 1966 when the government was overthrown. I was the Federal Minister of Education in that cabinet. I woke up one morning in my official house in Ikoyi to discover that my telephone was not working. I had never experienced coup before nor did I know that it was a coup, thinking it was just a telephone fault; until a colleague of mine in the cabinet Chief Abiodun Akerele, came in and told me there had been a military coup. So I had the fortune or the misfortune of being a victim of the first coup in this country. Many people may not know that I spent 18 months in detention in pr

Let me make it clear, “Buhari is replaced By Jubril” not Atiku “being Cameronain” – Kanu Blasts Abba Kyari

Image
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra has attacked Abba Kyrai for taking his assertion made during #referandum campaign on radio against Atiku Abubakar at the presidential Tribunal instead of facing the real issues that Buhari is being replaced with Jubril regards his quantum of evidence X-rayed on so”Atiku is Cameronain” Kanu, who was reacting angrily on his Twitter handle, said Abba Kyari is distorting his statement. In his words: Abba Kyari’s distortion of what I said on #Referendum as it bears on Atiku to challenge his Nigerian citizenship at Election Tribunal can best be rebutted by the published quantum evidence demonstrating that Buhari is long dead & replaced by impostor Jubril. That’s the real issue

Aso Rock in Trouble As Senators rubbishes Buhari's govt over unfinished projects in Nigeria

Image
The performance of the President Muhammadu Buhari government in the last four years, especially on infrastructure, came under heavy criticism at the Senate yesterday. Many lawmakers rated government very low when former Works, Power and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola, currently a ministerial nominee, appeared before the chamber for screening. They frowned on the inability of government to bring any project to completion during the period, despite a huge budgetary allocation for critical infrastructural needs. Senators Francis Alimikhena and Adamu Aliero noted that “year in, year out,” there was no project commissioning by Fashola. They therefore wondered what difference he would bring on board if President Muhammadu Buhari deploys him to the same ministry.Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha complained bitterly about the performance of the Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOS). He described their emergence as a “political roundabout,” saying serious mea

Nigerians are not ready to go to the next level, if they must go then hard work is needed from everyone - Senate President, Lawan Opens Up

Image
President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, on Tuesday, said the Chamber under him will ensure Nigeria’s budget is treated expeditiously. Lawan said this on Tuesday as the Senate adjourned for a two-month recess which was initially delayed to allow for the confirmation of the 43 nominees of the President for ministerial appointments. “The budget 2020 is going to be part of what we want to do differently from the previous sessions of the Senate,” the National Assembly chairman said. Lawan disclosed that the expectation of the lawmakers is that the 2020 appropriation bill will be presented to the National Assembly on their return from the recess in September. “Once that is done, it is our intention in the Senate and in the entire National Assembly that we devote a month of, possibly, October for budget defence only”, he stressed. “In a situation that we are able to achieve that, no more budget defence after October. “Any ministry or agent of government that fails to appear

I Will Rather Die Than See Nnamdi Kanu Divide Nigeria.- Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday vowed that his government would fight again if need be to secure the unity of Nigeria. He vowed to deal with the agitators for the creation of Biafra State, who he said wanted to disintegrate Nigeria. Buhari spoke while paying homage to the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, at his palace. The president said that there was a serious need for Nigerians to work hard to prevent the country  from collapse. Buhari said: “That boy (Nnamdi Kanu of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB), who is calling for the separation of Nigeria, he was not born when we fought for the country’s unity during the civil war.” He said that it was quite unfortunate that over two million people were killed during the civil war, all in an effort to maintain the unity of the country. He said division is “a situation we cannot allow to repeat itself.” “I am ready to fight back to defend the country from those agitating for the creation of Biafr

As eminent citizens converged on Minna, Niger State yesterday to proffer solutions to national issues, including insecurity, southern and Middle Belt leaders kept their vow not to attend the parley called by former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd). On Sunday, the leaders, under the aegis of Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), disclosed that they had bought air tickets and concluded arrangements to travel by air to Minna. However, they said they were compelled to reject participation in the peace talks in a last-minute decision when they discovered the inclusion of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) among those invited. The leaders expressed displeasure at the inclusion of MACBAN, which they considered a mere trade association for cattle herders and whose members have been accused of various violations of human rights, including the right to life, across the country. In a statement, leaders of the SMBLF, Chief Edwin
