"Buhari is a Dictator" - Dogara Blasts Speaks On Buhari's Recent Statement about Ballot Snatchers

Image
SPEAKER of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has warned that the order by President Muhammadu Buhari to the military to shoot prospective ballot snatchers during the coming elections is an indication that Nigeria is back to full dictatorship. The president gave the order during the National Caucus meeting of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Monday. But addressing a press conference to offer the response of the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the president’s remark, Dogara also said the order is a call to extra-judicial killings. He dismissed the claim by the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, alleging that the PDP got advance notice for the postponement of the presidential and National Assembly elections earlier slated for last Saturday. The Speaker stated: “In this context, we categorically deny these false claims and unnecessary blackmail and regard the President’s statement as a call for extra-judicial killings

Reacting in a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Sulaimon Suberu, the group stressed that such statement was unbecoming of the head of a democratic government, saying Buhari, by the threat, exposed “the paucity of democratic principles and norms in him”. It maintained that the President needed “a thorough democratic baptism” to completely fit in to a democratic setting where the rule of law and civility reign supreme other than force and brigandage. According to the group, Buhari’s comment was capa

I Don't Tolerate Nonsense, Back Guaido Or "Lose Everything you have" - Trump Warns Venezuela Military

Image
US President Donald Trump on Monday urged Venezuela's military to accept opposition leader Juan Guaido's amnesty offer, or stand to "lose everything," as a crisis deepened over President Nicolas Maduro's refusal to let in desperately needed humanitarian aid. Bringing in humanitarian aid is crucial to the viability of Guaido, who has denounced Maduro's re-election last year as fraudulent and in January declared himself interim president, a move recognized by some 50 countries. He has given the Maduro government until Saturday to let shipments of mainly US aid into the country, which is in the grip of a humanitarian crisis due to shortages of food and medicine exacerbated by hyperinflation. Addressing supporters and Venezuelan expatriates in Miami, Trump said he had a message for officials helping keep Maduro in place. "The eyes of the entire world are upon you today, every day and every day in the future. "You cannot hide from the choice t

I Won't Keep quiet, Buhari Is the cause of The Whole thing happening in Nigeria Now - US Lawmaker Blames Buhari, Speaks on Nigeria Election shift

Image
Rep. Chris Smith, immediate past chairman of the United States House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, has spoken on the postponement of Nigeria elections. His reaction was contained in a statement he signed on Monday. The statement posted on his website reads: “Responsibility for the delay of Nigeria’s presidential election lays squarely with President Muhammadu Buhari and those close to him. “Actions in advance of the election — including removal of Supreme Court Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen and arson attacks on Independent National Electoral Commission offices in opposition strongholds — are undermining confidence that this election and subsequent gubernatorial elections will be free and fair. “At a minimum, the presidential election must meet the 2015 standard, which saw a peaceful transfer of power and a statement by the then-sitting president that all bloodshed must be avoided.” Rep. Smith also called upon the Trump Administration and the State Department to fo

Nigerian Army speaks on Buhari’s ‘death threat’ against ballot snatchers

Image
The APC Caucus meeting The Nigerian Army has reacted to a controversial statement issued by President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday that all those planning to snatch ballot boxes may be carrying out their last illegal acts. The comment is already generating heated debates in the polity with many saying the president’s statement is a veiled sanction to security operatives to kill (extrajudicially) those who run afoul of the electoral law. The president made the statement at the All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus meeting on Monday. A leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has, however, defended the president saying President Muhammadu Buhari was ‘misinterpreted’. The Electoral Act prescribes two years in jail, not death, for persons found guilty of snatching or destroying election materials. Lawyers also argue that Section 33 of the Nigerian Constitution gives instances where ”one may forfeit his/her life as a result of certain scenarios”. The Nigeri
